New experimental kindergarten to be set up at Temasek Polytechnic
10 Mar 2010

A new Experimental Kindergarten will be set up within Temasek Polytechnic to innovate and conduct research in early childhood education.

It'll be staffed by a pool of experienced teachers who will use innovative strategies and pedagogy to teach.

There will also be researchers and educational psychologists attached to the programme to support research in teaching methods and curriculum development.

Eventually, the research findings will be shared with the rest of the pre-school sector.

To ease concerns, MOE says the kindergarten will adhere to ethical standards for research with children, and informed consent will be sought from parents or guardians of the children.

It adds that research will be carried out in an unobtrusive manner.

Registration for children will begin in the second half of this year.

The first batch of children will begin classes next January.
